Arper, a leading producer of seating and tables, was established in 1989 from a previous business focusing on finely crafted leather goods. Today, thanks to the quality and versatility of its products and its strategic commercial focus on foreign and emerging markets, Arper, which has been a member of the Industrial Design Association (ADI) since 2006, is in the forefront of the design-led seating and tables sector.
After a period of experimentation in the early 1990s, Arper felt the need to expand its offering to satisfy the needs of its increasingly diverse and discerning customers. The company began to invest heavily in technological innovation and research on new materials.
At the end of the decade Arper embarked on its collaborative partnerships with important design studios operating at the international level, who still work with the company today.
The partnership with the Lievore, Altherr, Molina Studio led to the Duna, Oasi, Masai, Ston, Catifa 53, Catifa 46, Palm, Dizzie, Eolo, Leaf, Catifa 70, Catifa 80 and the recent Catifa 60 collections. Further partnerships with other important figures from the international design world followed, including Jean-Marie Massaud's studio in France (Aston, Fred) and Simon Pengelly's UK-based studio (Babar).
Arper's collections are distinguished by their elegant, clean design and all share great flexibility and versatility. The wide range of options available to customise each product, both in the choice of base and the finish of the shell, makes them suitable for both home and contract use.
But in the care it devotes to its products Arper's focus extends beyond the aesthetic and functional aspects. The company also pays great attention to their environmental impact and to caring for the environment surrounding us. This care has been translated over the years into an agreed approach followed throughout the company with the aim of minimising its environmental impact through programmes that involve each stage of its production processes. Evidence of this approach is the company's success in achieving the following certification: ISO 9001 (1997) and ISO 14001 (2006), its EPD certification for Catifa 46 and 53 (pedestal/4-leg, one- and two-colour versions) and GREENGUARD.
Arper's coherent approach both to product development and to its environmental and commercial policies have won the company global recognition for its capacity to interpret the demands and trends of the international marketplace. It exports to over 80 countries, with a varied, comprehensive range of chairs and tables that are beautifully suited to meet the needs of the residential, contract and office sectors.
